Hi,

I got the VPN 2 days ago, I can host a game but nobody can join me (timeout error). Is there anything I can do/check/change?

Thanks but I already read it, it did not help me. I have win7, no third part firewall. I read somewhere in the forum that if I have the VPN, setting the ports on the router is not necessary. Isn's it?

Open ports with vpn are only needed if you have additional firewalls.

Other reasons:
Who tried to join your game? The same player or many differend players? If it was one player the problem might be his connection.

Hi Zwirni, thanks for your help. I requested the VPN a couple of day ago, also a friend of mine did it. We can host and our games are visible but we cannot join each other, also other players on the lobby cannot join me, they all get this message of timeout.

I have attached the log file.

Does VPN connect properly? It must show a green symbol on top right in the aLobby. Please upload also the vpn.log and check point 4 of this list: http://wiki.siedler3.net/doku….g_aufbauen

Yes, the VPN is correctly running, I have the green symbol on top-right of the lobby e the TAP adapter in installed.

I may have solved the issue. How?
I wanted open the ports on my router but I noticed that I could get inside it through the normal gateway address "192.168.0.1".
I noticed also that this address was changed by typing ipconfig on a command shell. I realized that my router was fucked up, despite internet is working properly and I think that the cause was a firmware update made months ago.
Also, I have tried to downgrade the firmare, but I could not.
I have simply put an old router, then I set up an internal static ip in my laptop and opened the ports for Settlers on this router, I tried to host and now it seems working very well, ppl could join me.

)))))
Remains the fact that I do not know if the issue was provoked because the ports closed or because the mess in my router.

I think we had defect routers by some users in the past. But it nothing we could detect i think. Nice to hear that you solved it

Just to clarify, maybe it can help someone else. Once I solved the issue on my side, my friend tried to join my game, but she could not yet (always timeout error). The fact was that she could not act on her router because she is just using wifi connection of her landowner.
To solve the issue of her side, first I have simply set a static ip on her laptop (this did not solve the issue neither btw) then I deactivated windows firewall, finally she was able to join me, the game is now working very well.

Do not disable the Windows firewall! Just reinstall alobby (or simply install it after S3), it will set the right settings into the windows firewall.

Your solution is completely wrong. It will only work with people who also have forwarded ports on their router - but with all the others who did not (which is the majority) you'll not be able to play correctly! Even if the host has forwarded his ports and so you can join - you will not be able to chat in-game with anyone who has not forwarded the ports!

Please sends us your alobby log files so we can try to solve this properly.

Hi adrianer, I'm back to tell you that probably you are not totally wrong. Since my last post I have been playing with my friend only (I want teach her how to play before join to you guys).
We have no problem in hosting and playing, chatting and everything, but after I save the game, once I load it, the game gets stuck suddently after loading (I see the map with the settlers, buildings, sound etc.) but everything is stuck and we are forced to suspend the game and make a new one without having the possibility to save and load.
I'll post my logs.

Please open the command line of Windows as administrator (Start -> Execute -> cmd) and execute the following command:
